Clean lined and graphic, this work is skillfully created by this established Ontario printmaker. CORN CRIB is number 10 of a limited edition of just 15 prints, and is one of a series of Southern Ontario barns done by this artist. Corn is the largest crop in Ontario and so the corn cribs on Ontario farms are very typical of this area. This is a compelling and meaningful piece that will add a contemporary statement of a traditional subject. Pair it with THE RED BARN for an even more dramatic hanging.
The work is matted and framed in a black frame. Image size: 22 3/4" x 14". Framed size approximately: 28 1/2" x 20 1/2" This piece is available in the gallery, Cedar Lake Studios, 19 Ainslie St. N. Cambridge, ON or contact Cedar Lake to inquire about shipping costs or delivery options.
The Artist: Clive Lewis is a Guelph, Ontario artist and printmaker. His love of Georgian Bay and of his rural roots shows up often in his work, primarily engravings.
While studying at The Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Clive became interested in typography and letterpress printing and for a few years worked extensively with old wood and lead type. When a friend asked him to illustrate a poster in the late ‘80s he began to engrave, and found a new passion.
His work encompasses both landscapes and more abstract concepts, all of which utilize the expressive lines and solid ink coverage that engraving and relief printing offer. His work has been described as being “strong and evocative and beautifully executed.” Clive’s work is in collections worldwide.
