Collection: Exhibition: A FINE BARN

Barns in Ontario originated with the first European settlers, and incredibly, a number of the hand-built barns of the late 1800s still exist today. The stone foundations and huge wooden structures, created from stones and strong hardwood trees of the area, have stood the test of time.

These iconic structures serve as a reminder of the courage and hardiness of those who left their homeland on a journey the likes of which they could not have predicted. The methods of farming may have changed, but the significance of farms has not.

This collection of works is a celebration of barns in art, by four accomplished Canadian artists, who found inspiration in outbuildings and the rich history that lives within.
