This bear is screen-printed by hand from an original drawing by the artist. The grizzly bear is found in Western Canada. Despite its large size, a grizzly has been known to reach speeds of 55 km per hour on land. This fellow however looks like he is happy to hang-out and relax.
Made from unbleached and non-dyed natural linen, the modern industrial grey colour is a result of the way in which the flax is cultivated and harvested. The illustrations are originals, drawn and hand-printed by the artist using water-based, eco-friendly, and heat-set ink. These whimsical tea towels have the durability of linen and will be beautiful for many years to come at home or at the cottage.
Tea towel measures 16” x 25.5” (40.5 cm x 65 cm)
The Artist/Designer: Barbara has been drawing animals all her life. For a number of years she was illustrating children's books, and then started stylizing her work to look like the steel engravings or woodblock prints that can be found in vintage school books and screen printing her drawings onto textiles by hand. All of the sewing is done with a 1947 Singer Featherweight sewing machine which is in keeping with the "vintage-look" of her work.
