The cardinal is seen through much of North America, and is one of the most-loved birds. This carving by a Canadian master carver is substantial - standing over 11" high in total. The solid cherry bird is 8" from the top of its head to the tip of its tail. This carving is one-of-a-kind and will be a much-loved addition to anyone's space.
Award-winning artist and master carver Marc Degagne, lived for more than 30 years on his family farm, at the northern tip of Algonquin Park, in Ontario Canada. He would often steal away into the woods to carve beavers, and other woodland creatures that surrounded him. Completely self taught, and now many years later, Marc has won many awards for his design and artistry and has carved commissioned sculptures for churches and shrines. In tune with the sites and sounds of grey timber wolves, birds, owls, turtles and bears, Degagne captures their spirits in beautiful woods.
