WINTER BURN, just back from hanging at the Burlington Art Gallery, showcases the many layers and rich colours, applied with numerous brushes and palette knives, that this artist is known for. This piece portrays the feeling on a clear winter's day when colours brought on by the cold, dry conditions and wind exposure, are crisp and clear, and surprisingly varied. A magnificent piece, which when hung in a large space, allows you to appreciate this work, and see new dimensions from every angle. Collected across North America, Joel's work is a wonderful contemporary addition to an art collection. And take advantage of the special pricing on this piece!

The Artist: Joel Masewich, a full-time artist for 35 years, was based in Salem, Ontario, near the banks of the Irvine River for many years. Recently Joel moved to Nova Scotia to enjoy another beautiful area of Canada - and of course to be able to watch his grandchild grow up. Joel’s work is inspired by the nature experienced everyday, and on his frequent kayaking and hiking trips. His work is known for the rich layers and visual references to water and light, blurring the line between representational and abstract painting. His graphite markings, line and brush work, and his use of palette knives create the layers and sharp colour extremes in his works on paper and canvas. Joel is also known, and regularly commissioned, for large landscape works of acrylic, layered with stainless and powder coated steel and copper. His work is collected by both private collectors and major corporations and has been featured in exhibitions and galleries across North America.
