The Artist: Jennifer Budd, born in Scotland and now living in Ontario, is an award-winning fibre artist, whose practice draws on the ancient method of feltmaking. “Painting with wool”, Jennifer creates vibrant landscapes of her birthplace, Scotland, and of Canada, her new home.
Each landscape is wetfelted using wool and silk. Jennifer then embellishes each work with needlefelting, freemotion machine embroidery and hand stitching.
Engaging with such a tactile medium allows Jennifer to connect deeply with her work, forging a connection between the maker and the viewer.
Jennifer has enjoyed sharing her skills as a fibre workshop leader in the Shetland Islands, the Outer Hebrides and the Highlands of Scotland and in Ontario.
